Regular use of fire started about 300, 000 years ago. The long gestation period and the raising of the child implied that evolution favored strong social ties in humans. The big brain is an even bigger cause of human infants which are born relatively prematurely (in terms of physical strength) compared to the other species. Homo sapiens’ brain consumes 25% of energy at rest, 8% is the norm for other apes. The Homo genus has unusually big brains and big energy drains. Homo Sapiens – “Homo” genus and “Sapiens” (intelligent) species. Mule (Horse and donkey), and Liger (Lion and Tiger). They, usually, won’t mate but can be induced to do so. Genus – Species evolved from a common ancestor. Species – Animals belong to the same species if they tend to mate and give birth to fertile offspring.
